Work Experience

 Nicola Cassells Music

As a solo independent Music Artist I have developed Management Skills. Throughout the years I have been involved with management companies and Record Labels but ultimately my co-manager Brian Cassells and I have been the driving force behind my music career. The work involved ranges from co-managing gigs, events and live performance, organising a demanding diary, marketing and press communications. In the space of my career I have performed at hundreds of events throughout the UK, had countless TV appearances, press interviews and news features. I have recorded various albums and had an EP Album which reached the Top 25 in the Classical Albums Chart.

Music Harbour Speaks Project

Music Harbour Speaks began as two separate blogs, Music Harbour and Music Speaks. I created and ran the blog site Music Speaks. Its primary purpose was to review music and events along with keeping the readers updated with music news. You can view the blog by following this link:

I then collaborated with Aimee Trainer to expand the project into a Creative Industries Networking Event which would take place along with Music Business School workshops. The Project involved liaising with a school in order to carry out the workshops during class time, organising, researching and planning presentations for each class and to effectively communicate with the secondary school children. The successful Creative Industries Networking Event took place at the HAC in Irvine, we organised the whole event.  To find out more information about Music Harbour Speaks please follow this link:

Leverndale Music Therapy Sessions

I took part in organising Music Therapy Sessions at Leverndale Hospital as part of a Community Music Project. Myself, plus an associate took the sessions for 2 hours each week for 6 weeks with a group of approximately 15 participants. The participants were in rehabilitation after suffering through mental health issues and are on the road to recovery, so we felt that we should be sensitive in our approach and create a relaxed calming atmosphere within our music appreciation sessions.

I took it upon myself to come up with a week by week plan for the sessions with guidelines for what would happen each week in terms of structure and theme. Each week took on a different theme, such as a ‘Classical Music and Emotion’ week. In this sessions we gave the group a selection of classical music songs and encouraged them to speak about how the songs made them feel, we also encourage them to draw their emotions or to draw what images the songs portrayed to them. Other themes included; ‘Soundtrack of Your Life’, ‘Album Artwork’, ‘Expression through Lego’, ‘Lyrical  Understanding’ and ‘Sounds of The World’.

The sessions were a great success, the participants engaged well, gave great feedback and expressed their enjoyment throughout. This is what we aimed for at the beginning and I am proud of what we achieved as a group and as an individual within this community project.

Somewhere In Time Project

Along with my skills as a classical singer, I am always looking for ways to develop myself as a creative individual through various projects. Last year I undertook a project which allowed me to gain skills in a music single release and in music video documentary. It was a challenging process which proved to be extremely rewarding. I recorded the full creative process in my blog for my project ‘Somewhere in Time’, which can be found here: Somewhere in Time Blog Link

Eventsalive is successful Events Organization company ran by company manager Edd Holloway. Eventsalive regularly organises events for The world-famous gold resort, Turnberry Hotel as well as events in Ayrshire such as West FM’s ‘Cash For Kids’ and Clic Sargent’s ‘James Bond Ball’. The company also organises Weddings, Private Functions and Gala days and has a large roster of celebrity performers.

I have worked with Eventsalive on several occasions over the past 10 years and also worked with him briefly as part of a work- related learning project. My involvement has also included performing at various events organised by Eventsalive. During the work- related learning project I researched Clients/ Artists and Venues, undertook administrational tasks within office, attended live events, acted as artist liaison and carried out stage management roles.
